      The Boy Scout movement began in the United States in 1910, so in 1998 Troop 520 in celebrated the 88th anniversary of Scouting in America.  The following article was published on February 5, 1998 in the South Hamilton Record News, page 9.

South Hamilton Troop 520 is ready for another week of summer camp at Camp Mitigwa Scout reservation.

Troop 520 is ready for a canoe trip down the Dredge Ditch starting where it intersects Highway 175 in Jewell.

Several one-Scout kayaks are taking this trip which starts in Jewell and ends east of Little Wall Lake.

After the Lake Cairo Dredge Ditch passes the dam near the Welp home,
the trip is completed at the coming bridge over the gravel road.
